"Out of Site"

The children in the elevators are in an intense state of panic. Before this group of campers can get off the ground floor, the spiders slam their legs into the metal doors and manage to bend them in slightly. Fortunately, after a second, the elevators begin to rise toward their destination. Almost all of the children are crying and the counselors and drivers are desperately trying to calm them. As they reach the 24th floor, the doors begin to open. The area outside the elevators seems relatively safe and everyone gets out. A few counselors had arrived on the floor a moment earlier and led their campers into a secluded area; they quickly lead this next group in the direction of the others. While they move toward the center of the building, glass can be heard shattering loudly on the outside of the sky scraper. The counselors are yelling at the young children to run as fast as they can, knowing the monsters can't be far behind. Entering a very large conference room, the campers quickly run to the others that had been there for a slight time. The two conference room doors appear to be made of steel and the concrete walls seem very thick. Still, no one in the room feels safe. After a few uneasy moments, the crowd hears an extremely loud bang on one of the doors, then the other. Suddenly, both doors are being kicked with ferocious intensity while the nasty creatures desperately try to get at their frightened prey. The doors are starting to get slight dings in them as a result of the relentless attacks.

With its body glowing, Taschin's ship blazes through the Earth's atmosphere. Within seconds, the vehicle's over Africa, rapidly flying toward the Atlantic ocean. Moving at over 200,000 mph, David and Taschin quickly approach Los Angeles, where the bio-weapon seems concentrated. In no time, they approach the city as Dave mentally guides the ship toward the tall building with the frightened children. Also taking control of Rummager II, the Arn hastily brings it to the area of that same sky scraper. Spiders are all around and on the building, climbing, looking, searching for victims through the dark glass. Shattering in many places, windows are giving way to the powerful kicks of the violent monsters. Dave's dispatching Rummager II to shoot the spiders off the building. They're falling down in numerous fashion while their bodies explode amidst their painful screams. More glass is exploding from the pulses of laser beams as a result of Rummager II's onslaught.

The children in the conference room are screaming in terror while the two doors are beginning to show their wear from the assault. Starting to bend slightly, it's apparent the locks can't take too much more abuse. Also, a few spiders are attacking the concrete walls and they're beginning to crack. Even the adults appear petrified; their shelter's quickly turning into a death trap. One of the doors starts giving way a little as it's loosening. With one powerful kick, the door slams open with tremendous force. Absolute fear overtakes everyone in the room as a few spiders come through the entrance. The other door slams open and part of the wall gives way; everyone's quickly surrounded. One of the spiders begins to violently writhe and squirm on the floor while the other creatures rock their heads back in apparent surprise. With no warning, David runs into the room at over 50 mph and instantly gives a flying kick into the body of one of the monsters. That creature slams into a wall with incredible force, killing it instantly while the wall gives way amidst flying dust and debris. As a result of David's use of the Kivon, the monster that had been squirming on the floor's also dead. Suddenly, all of the spiders lunge at the startled Arn and several fangs penetrate his skin. He punches one of the monsters in the body so hard, his hand goes right through the creature's flesh, penetrating more than a foot deep. Another spider tears a chuck of flesh out of Dave's right shoulder while the creature chomps down on him with the tremendously sharp teeth and powerful jaws from one of its ugly dinosaur heads. Well trained, the determined Arn ignores the pain and quickly back-flips 25 feet through the air. Even the spiders seem perplexed at his super-human abilities, watching in awe while his skin immediately repairs itself from the bite. Having shaken off the venom, Dave concentrates on increasing the kinetic energy inside the creatures' bodies as they lunge at him again. Enduring a second attack, he grabs one spider by the snake-throat and crushes its neck with an intensely powerful grip. That creature dies while the others burst into flames from Dave's skilled use of the Kivon. As the monsters air their final screams of pain, the motivated Arn quickly heals the many bite marks all over his body, especially the small chuck one of them took out of his heart. David has no difficulty stopping the blood flow and rapidly gets his cells to regrow the damaged organ parts. Within 10 seconds, he's fully healed and giving instructions to the dumbfounded, but relieved group, who seem stupefied at his abilities.

Slowly, Taschin teleports the camp into his ship in small groups. David's busy convincing the people that Taschin's his friend and will protect and bring them to safety. After everyone gets settled, the Vartaxian calls David aside to have a word with him. Taschin's brought his vehicle a few hundred miles from Earth in an effort to keep the UEF at a safe distance. Still, the UEF's firing antimatter driven missiles at them from the ground and David's forced to redirect those missiles harmlessly into space.

Taschin: A few moments ago, my computer caught some spiders giving birth. They seemed to be popping out about 100 larva each.

David: I know, I know. I sensed it. We have some serious problems! From what I can tell, the spiders have some sort of triple helix genetic code, which is beyond me. Does your computer know anything about this?

Taschin: Yes, but every creature we've ever encountered has deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) as a building block. Trioxyribonucleic acid (TNA) is a completely foreign concept. How do we attack something we don't understand. We can try to extrapolate, but that's as far as it goes.

David: We don't have much of a choice! We've got to try and kill them as soon as possible! I'm gonna have to speak with Earth and get them to cooperate, rather than attack us.

Taschin: I hope so! Your leaders seem extremely paranoid as I guess they should be. I hope they listen to you. Our work's hard enough without being shot at all the time. I'm setting up my ship to be able to kill some of the spiders through microwaves. Hopefully, you can use the Kivon to kill the rest. Well, that and Rummager II should help, also.

David: Yea, but we've got bigger problems! If I'm not mistaken, those newborn larva's TNA's starting to mutate into something new. Whatever comes out of the larva will be something entirely different from the spiders. I'm managing to kill some of the newborn creatures through the Kivon, but others are digging too far down for me to reach them. There's just too much rock in the way for my mind to penetrate. This isn't good!
