Despite an all out search, the UEF was unable to locate any alien objects. They found the holes in the ground that the projectiles left and tried digging in the relevant spots with various machinery, but with no luck; the alien entities disappeared without a trace. After nightfall, the UEF performed a series of biological and chemical scans in the region to see if any danger was lurking; they found nothing. Cordoning off the area, the UEF installed a broad series of motion detectors and other surveillance equipment in an effort to prevent any surprises. The fruitless search was called off by morning and a number of guards were kept in the vicinity; the others left as orders were given to move out.

After getting very little sleep, David resumed work on Taschin's vehicle. Putting the ship through a brief, but thorough systems check, Taschin was satisfied that his craft was space worthy and lifted off from Mars. It'll take them until about 19:30 hours (Eastern Standard Time) today to reach Earth.

It seemed like a nice day for a picnic in the beautiful California park near Los Angeles. A cool breeze wisps through the long flowing blond hair of the tall, sensual-looking woman and her large, muscular brown-haired boyfriend. Suddenly, the couple hears strange and horrible growling noises from beyond a hill a few hundred feet behind them. The intermittent noises seem to quickly grow closer as anxiety grips the attractive couples thoughts. In extreme disbelief, they stare at a creature swiftly coming over the hill, becoming frozen in place from the shock that overwhelms their terrified minds. The alien monster has a large cow-size spider-like body with three grotesque heads that stare toward the couple with red demonic-looking eyes. A strange middle head looks like the front-half of a giant rattle snake and the other two look almost like some kind of weird dinosaurs from the neck up. With its heads reared back, the monster begins to move toward the couple at about 25 mph. Regaining their composure, the couple begins to run in the direction of their vehicle, parked a few hundred feet away. Screaming out in unimaginable pain, the woman feels the snake-head's fangs tear into her back. Her boyfriend gives the menacing creature's body a flying kick, which doesn't seem to faze it, at all. With a powerful bound, the monster lunges toward the man and slams one of its 8 strong legs into his back as he was attempting to retreat. Flying face first into the grass, the man rapidly tries getting to his feet. Before he can regain his footing, the creature sinks its large fangs into the man's right thigh, causing him to scream intensely. The woman has started running toward the car again, which is fifty feet away. As an intense wave of pleasure courses through her body, she reaches the car and begins to unlock the door. Even greater pleasure seeps into her mind as she manages to get it open. Falling into the seat, she's overcome with an incredible amount of euphoria and can't move. The boyfriend doesn't even make it to the car, collapsing on the ground with a large smile on his face. Paralyzed with venom, the two are at the creature's mercy.

With nothing but a smile on her face, the woman almost doesn't seem to notice the snake-head's begun speaking with her in english. While this is going on, the other two heads with the sharp teeth have begun to slowly eat her legs from the feet up. The spider's tapping on her skull with one of its own legs in jest.

Creature: You're not much fun! I guess you're wondering how I can speak? We have most of your languages hard wired into our genetic codes. I must say, destroying your civilization's going to be quite an entertaining experience for us. Oh, I'm sure you'll put up a struggle at first, they all do, but in the end, you'll die off just like the others. This much is inevitable! Our masters, the Tarx, are going to take over your galaxy and there's nothing that can be done to stop them. The pitiful Colzin might've given you false hope, but their fate's sealed, as well. Your race's technology's laughable. You didn't actually think you could win, did you? Anyway, it doesn't matter what you think, you just have to accept your fate and that's that!

The creature rapidly finishes consuming the woman as the man looks on helplessly. Immediately after that, the monster quickly eats the male as blood flies everywhere.

With blood covering its ugly body, the creature begins swiftly running west through the large park again. Off in the distance, a camp of a few hundred children are playing near the edge of that park, fairly close to their numerous yellow buses. One of the counselors hears the Tarx creature from afar and spots it with a pair of binoculars. With a horrified expression on his face, he begins yelling at everyone to immediately get inside the vehicles. All the people have a dumbfounded look on their faces and are slow to respond. Moving at close to 40 mph, the monster rapidly becomes visible to the camp and they frantically begin running toward their buses as they scream in horror. Children are scrambling up each vehicle's stairs and some are falling as they desperately try climbing in. The 22 year old counselor who first spotted the creature's gotten hold of a baseball bat and decides to run slightly toward the monster in an effort to buy the children some time. Rapidly approaching the young man, the Tarx creature lunges at him as he dives out of the way. Getting to his feet, the counselor slams the fat part of the bat into the snake-head after the monster whipped around, causing that head to reel a few feet toward the left in response to the powerful blow. Wasting no time, the counselor begins to strike a follow up blow to the monster's body. With a tremendously powerful kick, the spider slams a leg into the man's chest, killing him instantly. The monster's easily shaken off the attack and is eying up the now full buses. Fortunately, the counselor bought the children and the other counselors enough time to get into their vehicles. But their safety's not assured, at all.
