8Slowly, Dave begins to recover from his drugged state. The room he's in looks
very bizarre, making the transition back to consciousness incredibly
disorienting. As his thoughts become more lucid, fear begins creeping into
David's mind. It becomes clear to him, he's tightly strapped to some invisible
bed with invisible binds. His body's nearly vertical and 3 feet of distance
appears to separate his feet from the ground, which is red in color with white
swirls. Looking somewhat similar to the floor, the walls and ceiling are
unnerving. An eerie lack of sound and smell in the room makes it all the more
scary. Dave doesn't seem to know what to make of his situation, adding to the
unproven Arn's intense apprehension.
Where the hell am I? The last thing
I remember, I was shot in the back by those people. They must've dragged me from
the beach. But to where? I've never seen anything like this before! How can I be
tied up with invisible binds? How's that possible? It doesn't make any sense.
This looks freakin weird! Where the hell's the door? There must be one behind me
I just can't see. There doesn't seem to be any furniture. What's up with that? I
don't like this at all! Not at all! And, what's going on with the ceiling,
walls, and floor? They must be trying to drive me to distraction with all these
swirling patterns. Are they going to operate on me and try to get this device
off? They'd probably have to remove part of my skull. I'd almost be willing to
lose part of my forehead to get rid of this useless thing. Maybe, I'll try the
Kivon again and see if I can use it to get myself out of here.
David
tries desperately to concentrate on breaking free from his invisible binds. It's
proving extremely hard for him to stay focused, as fear continues to plague his
thoughts. After the passage of a couple minutes, Dave's forced to stop his
efforts out of exhaustion.
Damn! This is impossible! Talk about your bad
luck. How did I get involved in this? I guess, it's a done deal. Why haven't I
been interrogated yet? They must be studying me or something. Maybe, they're
trying to see what'll happen with this alien device. It seems like they'd want
to get this thing off me as soon as possible. Why run the risk of me starting to
be able to use the Kivon? Nothing's making sense! I need to talk to someone.
There's gotta be someone watching me. I've gotta get their attention!
David begins to yell hoping someone will hear him. As tired as he is,
Dave continues to forcefully plead for help during the next few minutes.
Frustrated, anxious, and extremely worn down, he gives up at that point and
stares uneasily at the strange walls before him. Walls that bring him no
comfort--no comfort at all.
Entering the Martian
atmosphere.
