Picture space Episode 1
April 10, 2000-14:00 hours, Eastern Standard Time.

On both hemispheres of the Earth, people outside are starring at the sky in amazement at a giant image forming of some alien being. The exact same image forms on the northern and southern hemispheres so that most people on the planet can see it. Nodding to say hello, the strange blue and yellow colored creature begins to speak in a strong and low-pitched voice.

"I'm Trilan of the Colzin, a race of beings from the galaxy you call Andromeda, which is about 2.7 million of your light years from the Milky Way."

While he continues to speak, the entire sky becomes a beautiful and extremely vivid projection of outer-space. The Milky Way and numerous close galaxies seem to float in brilliant color and are marked by descriptive names and various spatial measurements. With his likeness superimposed in front of this display, Trilan continues as the imagery keeps changing to visually explain what he's discussing.

"It's imperative we warn you about an impending invasion of the Milky Way from a race of beings known as the Tarx. The Colzin believe these malevolent invaders are from a fairly sizable spiral galaxy you call Triangulum, which is about 3 million light-years from here and about 250,000 light-years from Andromeda. Being the largest galaxy in this galaxy cluster you call the Local Group, Andromeda, unfortunately, is their staging ground to attack the Milky Way in an effort to gain control of the entire cluster. About 500 of your years ago, the Tarx invaded my galaxy, which we had colonized over 1,000 years. Over the last 500 years, the Tarx have been nearly impossible to stop. They've conquered world after world with us resisting their every move."

At this time, various close-up imagery of Colzin planets being hammered by numerous huge explosions fills the Earth's sky as rock-like Tarx spaceships can be seen shooting large quantities of multicolored weapons fire. Huge Colzin cities are being instantly decimated amidst enormous shock waves, which are being heard loudly throughout the Earth's atmosphere. With a distraught look in his eyes, Trilan proceeds.

"A serious threat to every race they come into contact with, the Tarx are fairly close to completely controlling Andromeda. They completely dominate Triangulum and our attempts to engage them there have proved extremely futile. The Tarx also control numerous smaller galaxies in that whole region of space.

Your galaxy's the second largest in the Local Group, but is by far the most massive. Having more mass than the rest of this cluster combined, the Milky Way's the Tarx' last great obstacle to their ruthless objectives of dominating the entire area. Make no mistake, these creatures are totally bent on seizing your galaxy and will annihilate anything that stands in their way, or they feel will pose any type of even a minor inconvenience to them.

Traveling at about 400 light-years per day, it's taken 20 years for an advance fleet of Tarx ships to cross the immense space between Triangulum and the Milky Way. They've just arrived within the past few Earth days and have been setting up their systems in several key places just outside the galaxy's perimeter."

The Illusion that the Earth's rapidly hurtling through space becomes apparent as stars seemingly fly by at tremendous rates. While we appear to leave the confines of the Milky Way and this galaxy comes to fill up half the sky, Trilan points to some strange objects which seem to materialize in the foreground.

"Let me explain their intentions. Inside their ships, they've brought these relatively small star shaped vortex generators, which are each about 40 feet wide. 8 of the generators, which are powered by small black holes, make up a vortex box. As you can imagine, the machines are set up in a box shaped pattern with each one acting as a point of that box. Each generator's placed a few hundred feet from the other ones. Acting in unison, the machines create a vortex that allows a vessel to travel directly and instantly from another generated vortex, no matter where that other vortex is. Our Colzin forces were able to hijack some of their devices in Andromeda and we teleported to several points along the outskirts of the Milky Way. Fortunately, the machines use an immense amount of energy and can only operate for an hour or so; after that, they need about 14 days to regenerate, which should slow them down a little. The generators keep a little reserve power for their shields, which we've not yet managed to penetrate. My fleet of a few hundred ships, with me in command, has been assigned to this particular region of space, which the Tarx have termed the Seventh Division; they hope to divide your galaxy into eight divisions in total. If they have their way, they'll inevitably build 8 giant vortex generation boxes at even intervals along a circumference just outside the Milky Way's boundaries. They'd have two more giant generation boxes placed on either side of the galactic disc about 10,000 light years from the center."

While the Milky Way appears to slowly rotate, 8 imaginary bright yellow lines emanate like spokes from a small flashing green sphere at the galaxy's center. Glowing radiantly along the galactic plane at 45 degree angles from one another, the lines mark the division boundaries. Large pulsing red lights display the intended locations of the giant vortex machines.

"The smaller vortexes are only big enough to allow their fighter and builder ships to pass through. Fortunately, they can't bring other vortex generators through a vortex, as they become damaged; they've tried before and failed for reasons we don't fully understand. The machines have only been around for about 40 years and since we can't get through their shielding, we can't fully study them. In any event, if they gain a foothold, they'll start tearing up planets and suns in an effort to build their giant vortex devices, which will allow them to send in major reinforcements of all kinds. Left unchecked, they'll put themselves into a position of invulnerability; if that happens, all may be lost. The extinction of my race, your race, and many others is at stake. Losing is not an option; the revolution must continue! I realize your race might not trust my race or me. The only reassurances I can give you are, basically, we could easily have conquered your world without warning. I wouldn't be wasting my time with these stories if they weren't true. Your race isn't the only intelligent species in the Milky Way, or the Seventh Division; I have numerous other races to warn. It's my desperate hope, I'll succeed in getting most of these beings to understand the gravity of everyone's situation; the success of stopping the Tarx depends upon it. The sooner we stop them, the better. Our calculations prove every day they're not stopped benefits them and aids their cause. They'd put their mechanisms in place day after day and inevitably would become unstoppable.

Your race seems to have had its share of problems, but you also have great promise. There's one among you named David Ash that we've found capable of wearing the Kivon; the most advanced device in the Local Group. It's taken considerable labor, time, and a great deal of resources to develop and manufacture each Kivon, which the wearer places near the brain, in your case on the forehead. The small, translucent devices, made out of cutting edge designer atomic structures, are self-adhering and will pick up the wearer's brain waves and translate them into actions. A Kivon can tap into zero point energy, the energy of the universe around us, and do very interesting things depending upon the power and vision of the wearer's mind. They're extremely difficult to control and we were immensely lucky and happy to find someone in your race that's capable of handling it. There are only a couple of individuals in my race that could wear one; they're needed in Andromeda. While a Kivon doesn't lend the wearer, called an Arn, infinite power by any stretch of the imagination, it's an immensely formidable entity if used well; however, if used poorly, it can be very harmful and destructive. Understandably, the Tarx have been desperately trying to stop us from making these devices, which we invented only very recently in our long history of technology, which spans a few thousand years. We're hoping the Kivons will help us turn the tide against the Tarx. This may be our last great hope! I'll teleport the device to David now as we must go and warn other races. Remember, the Tarx will send all forms of attackers at you; look to David for protection. Good-bye for now." The images disappear from each hemisphere and everyone seems completely dazed.
